Drawings

Today, drawing, the tradition and the school of drawing well are the pedestal and the foundation of visual arts, even when claimed to be eliminated. It should be added: drawing is the conscience of painting, it is the component whose counterpart in morality we call responsibility. When a country’s painting lacks the architectural discipline of drawing, all of its products manifest that painful indecision, that perennial and suffocating “wanting and not being able to”, that habitual clumsiness, that undignified floating in which they subsist and all of their forms exist, like aerostats that the wind totters.
